“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” Henry David Thoreau
Beyond sharing our birthdays, Thoreau has long served to validate my thinking, my ghost classmate in the outdoors, and an inspiration in my expressive work. Landscape painting is my favorite. I especially enjoy working from my own photography and sketches. There are usually focused on intimate spaces, on a human scale and in pursuit of a feeling of serenity. My experiences have brought me to a microcosmic view, just a glimpse, of our place in the scheme of things. This is what I hope the viewer will also sense beyond my sometimes disciplined intermediaries-color, shape, and for.
