The painted landscape is the main focus of my work. Extreme weather has been headlining the news for quite sometime now.The visual expanse of this theme inspires me- the link to our emotional state. Sun baked days with blinding light create abstract shapes impossible to ignore. Floating cloud scapes that crash into a storm are inspired topics for view in the framed picture plane. A single cloud backlit by the sun veils the light to letting one’s eyes settle on a softly lit form. The sweat of trial and error as the brushstroke creates a formidable mark trying to capture the essence of what we call “outside.” Being grounded in shadow with paint tubes of opaque and transparency- watching the weather make the news yet again is definitely paint making material.
