I’m a self-taught artist with some formal study, currently based in CT.
I’m mostly inspired by figurative expressionism and surrealism. I value (and practice) the use of bright color palettes and symbolism as means to explore themes of nostalgia, impulse and desire.
There are many different ways to experience uneasiness, and my art seeks to explore each one. Rodents, cartomancy, and morbid anatomy are recurring motifs in my work, used to reveal various aspects of the human psyche.
My latest work is all oil on canvas, though I also work in digital painting and graphite on paper. I usually begin with a core idea and build a collection of images that represent it. From there, I sketch a basic composition and transfer it to the canvas. This process allows me to fully connect with each piece and shape the intention that viewers may uncover later.
